CC Star Defender: Strident The Star Defender project was an initiative proposed by the New Republic to encourage allied ship manufactures to produce massive warships capable of dealing with several large threats at once. The concept was devised out of years of battling the Empire and constantly having to engage Star Destroyer class ships. While frigates and cruisers were advantageous to most roles and missions, battle against a single Star Destroyer could render an entire fleet in need of repair. The Star Defender initiative was to have key shipyard worlds produce a vessel that could defend from attack and be used to spearhead invasions into enemy strongholds. The concept stemmed from the success of the Kuat Mandator line of warships. The Strident, one of 3 available for the mod was Corellia's answer to this proposal. The ship was designed specifically to fulfill 2 roles, defense of orbital structures, or spearheading assaults. With most weaponry located on the dorsal side, the Strident-Class was often seen hovering over Corellia's shipyards as a protective shield. With its unique sloped wedge design, the majority of long-range dual heavy turbos can be seen facing frontward with convenient placement for covering side archs, allowing the ship to effectively incapacitate enemy defenses while launching out of hyperspace with a supporting invasion fleet. Notable ship features include the large repair/fighter bay, capable of performing mid-battle passive repair and launching corvettes, dual heavy ion turrets located in the rear flanks, a deadly row of 8 dual heavy turbo laser turrets located on each side for anything that survives an initial assault, a multi-warhead rocket launch system for devastating broadsides and 8 forward facing torpedo launchers located in the superstructure wings towards the back to the ship.
