Notable differences between the 2 ships are that the KDY features a hanger, 5 heavy turbolaser turrets, missle ports, 3 heavy ions and 8 heavy laser turrets. The Republic Class stays true to Kuat battle tactics, focusing on heavy weapons meant to deal considerable damage to large capital ships. The Corellian Destroyer also has an upgrade to receive 3 heavy ion turrets. The main differences between Corellian ships and Kuat is that while Kuati ships have heavier firepower, their weapons (such as the heavy lasers) take longer to recharge between firing and the ships move slower.
