The pinnacle of Verpine technology, the Lancer project set out to push the B-Wing concept to the limits. Using the same armor strength hull and shield generator as the previous 2 B-wings, the Lancer's removal of the S-Foil wings allowed greater stress to be endured by the frame of the spacecraft, which allowed for maximized acceleration. The Lancer was noted to be as fast as an X-wing, possibly slightly faster. The increased speeds allowed the fighter to perform as an excellent Superiority fighter to hunt enemy fighters. The Lancer maintained its gyrocockpit as well to make it an increasingly difficult target for pursuing enemy fighters as well. Armed with the 4 cockpit mounted blasers, the Lancer also kept its twin torpedo launchers in the main hull, and in the twin tail gun pods featured 2 concussion missile launchers. This increased payload enabled the Lancer to focus on a wider variety of targets, switching from fighters to capital ship targeting locks with dead eye precision thanks to its advanced targeting systems. With the removal of the S-Foils, an additional third heavy laser cannon was installed as well as a third medium ion cannon, making the Lancer a very deadly craft against everything. Total Armament: 4 cockpit mounted blasters 3 medium ion cannons 3 heavy laser cannons 2 proton torpedo launchers 2 concussion missile launchers Due to the additional weaponry and faster speeds of the Lancer, its weapons systems and flight avionics proved to be too much to handle for human pilots and most other species, and were only capable of being fully utilized by the Verpine themselves.
