Defense/Escort 40 Class Gunship
Designed as escort gunship, unlike the DP-20, the Paladin served as a more stable gun platform instead of a pursuit type assault ship. Armed with 5 medium turbolaser turrets and 2 fast tracking blaster turrets, the DE-40, or "D4" was meant to escort larger ships without leaving their side. Armed as strongly as the DP-20, but half the speed, the Paladin was a common site to many New Republic convoys.
